Mou’nes Al Shahania (Harran ASF x Majnona) captured the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap (60–80) over 2000m (Class 4) for 4yo+ and 11 runners in the fifth race on the card. The 5-year-old bay gelding, owned by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, trained by Rudy Nerbonne and ridden by Lukas Delozier, notched his third consecutive victory from just six career starts, which also include three placed finishes, staying on strongly to score by half a length and suggest there is more to come, another start in the making. Settled in midfield from barrier 2, Mou’nes Al Shahania was content to let others contest the early lead as stablemate Tariqu Al Shahania (Gazwan) pressed forward soon after the start to take control from Al Fareq (Al Mamun Monlau). Tariqu Al Shahania dictated the tempo through the early and middle stages ahead of SK Doctor (Al Mourtajez) and Al Fareq, with the eventual winner travelling comfortably off the pace. Approaching the home turn, Al Qaws (Dahess) advanced from behind mid-division to move into third behind Tariqu Al Shahania and SK Doctor, with Bin La Hoor (La Hoor) following. On straightening up, Al Qaws continued his forward move to press into second behind the long-time leader while the chasing pack began to close in as the race intensified. Inside the final 200m, Mou’nes Al Shahania launched his challenge with a sweeping run from off the pace, rapidly reeling in the leaders and striking the front. Al Fareq rallied strongly in pursuit, but the winner responded generously and held on gamely to the line. Al Fareq, representing Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari and trained by Julian Smart, stayed on under Alberto Sanna to finish second, one and three-quarter lengths clear of Tariqu Al Shahania, who kept on for third in the same colours and for the same trainer as the winner under Faleh Bughenaim.
