Nah’ash Al Shahania regains winning thread in strong Class 2 contest

february 26, 2026

Nah’ash Al Shahania (AF Al Buraq x Insheragh) took the penultimate race on the card, the Purebred Arabian Handicap (85–105) over 1400m (Class 2) for 5yo+ and 10 runners. The 6-year-old bay gelding, carrying the colours of HE Sheikha Reem bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, from the yard of Rudy Nerbonne and partnered by Lukas Delozier, returned to winning ways after three placed finishes this campaign, registering his second success in six starts with a determined performance to score by a length while providing his trainer with a second winner on the evening and his rider with a third in succession. Breaking smartly, Nah’ash Al Shahania settled just behind the early leaders as the front position changed hands rapidly before Sejjel (Al Mourtajez) established a strong and searching gallop shortly after the start. Ilasad (AF AlBahar) and Posuelo Py (AF AlBahar) tracked the pace, with the eventual winner travelling comfortably in their slipstream as the field stretched out through the early and middle stages. Midway through the race, Nah’ash Al Shahania advanced smoothly into second and, approaching the home turn, applied pressure to the leader before striking the front. Once in command he never relinquished control, maintaining a steady advantage despite persistent pressure from Posuelo Py and several others, including Jenkille Hipolyte (Al Mamun Monlau), who produced a late run from off the pace in the closing stages. Nah’ash Al Shahania held on gamely and established a clear margin, leaving his rivals to battle it out for the minor honours. That struggle proved fiercely competitive, with only a short head and a head separating the next three home. Posuelo Py, racing for Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Fadala and handled by Hamad Al-Jehani, secured second under Faleh Bughenaim, a short head ahead of Al Zwair (TM Fred Texas), who stayed on for Al Shaqab Racing, trainer Jean de Mieulle and jockey Pierre Charles Boudot, with Jenkille Hipolyte a head further back in fourth for his owner-trainer Osama Omer Al-Dafea under Arnaud de Lepine.
