Mubkhar Al Shahania battles bravely to secure his second career win

DECEMBER 06, 2025

Mubkhar Al Shahania (Gazwan x Kampanule De Ghazal) showed determination and maturity beyond his experience to land Race 3, the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap (55–75) for 3YO+ over 2200m (Class 5), run with 13 runners. The 4YO grey colt, racing for H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, trained by Rudy Nerbonne and partnered by Lukas Delozier, doubled his career tally on just his fourth start, scoring by a narrow quarter of a length. The early stages were lively and constantly shifting. Kasser Al Shahania (Amer) made the running from the outset, with Mubkhar Al Shahania tracking him closely in the same colours, followed by Achmed (Tabarak) and Muale'm (Mared Al Sahra). Muale’m soon moved forward to take command, with the two stablemates in the white and blue colours in pursuit. As the race evolved rapidly, Rabee' Al Shahania (Asraa Min Albarq) advanced to challenge the leader while Achmed held third. Moments later, Azooz (Aziz ASF) swept into second behind the still-leading Muale’m as the field passed the 1000m. Approaching the home turn, the complexion changed yet again, with Rabee' Al Shahania taking over at the 700m, narrowly ahead of Azooz. The lead changed hands repeatedly through the early home straight. Kasser Al Shahania re-emerged at the front, only for Mubkhar Al Shahania to loom alongside, repeating their early-race duel. Just as Mubkhar Al Shahania moved ahead, Achmed surged with a powerful challenge and looked a genuine danger in the final stages. However, Mubkhar Al Shahania dug deep and held on gamely for a narrow, but deserved victory. Achmed, representing Wathnan Racing for trainer Alban de Mieulle under Soufiane Saadi, finished just a quarter of a length behind. Only a nose back came Al Fareq (Al Mamun Monlau), running for Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari under Julian Smart and Marco Casamento, delivering a strong late run from the rear to claim third after a very tight battle for the minor honours.
