Kendah Al Shahania dazzles in Djendel Cup opener

April 02, 2026

Earlier on the day, Kendah Al Shahania (Mister Ginoux x R B Kindle) took the opener, the Djendel Novice Cup, a Local Purebred Arabian Novice over 1400m (Class 5) for four-year-olds and upwards, featuring a full field of 16. The four-year-old bay filly, in the colours of HE Sheikha Iman bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani, from the Rudy Nerbonne stable and with Alberto Sanna doing the steering, made a striking impression from a wide draw in barrier 14, producing a powerful late surge to score by four lengths, with Mr Taleb Meteb Al-Saaq presenting the Djendel Cup Held up in the early stages, Kendah Al Shahania was settled off the pace as the field developed, with the leaders travelling strongly through the opening exchanges. Nah’aab Al Shahania (Burning Sand) raced prominently and was involved in a sustained contest for the lead in the straight alongside Shawaq Alseej (Yazeed), the pair setting a strong tempo as the race unfolded. Turning for home, the leaders were still closely matched, with Nah’aab Al Shahania continuing to press forward. Meanwhile, Windsor (AF AlBahar), like the eventual winner, was also making ground from off the pace, positioning himself for a late challenge. Inside the final 300m, Kendah Al Shahania unleashed a decisive burst, sweeping past her rivals with authority and quickly putting daylight between herself and the field. Her advantage widened with every stride, sealing an emphatic victory. Windsor, representing Umm Al Shukhut Farm and prepared by Ibrahim Khaled Elahmed, stayed on strongly under Pierre Charles Boudot to take second, just a short head ahead of Nah’aab Al Shahania, who kept on for HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, also trained by Rudy Nerbonne and with Lukas Delozier aboard, after racing prominently throughout and disputing the lead in the straight.
