Nasser Al Shahania captures Eraida Cup in determined fashion

March 03, 2026

Nasser Al Shahania (Jaafer ASF x Nacree Al Maury) landed the Eraida Cup in the evening’s final and feature race, a Purebred Arabian Handicap over 2200m (Class 2) for five-year-olds and older, with seven runners going to post. The six-year-old chestnut, racing in the colours of Al Shahania Stud and prepared by Rudy Nerbonne, who secured a one-two, was steered by Lukas Delozier and recorded his first win in just three outings this campaign, prevailing by half a length, with a decisive gap back to third. Settled towards the rear in the early exchanges, Nasser Al Shahania travelled comfortably as Alshanfara (AF AlBahar) showed the way initially from Al Kazim (Al Mamun Monlau) and Medan (Assy) before the latter took over. The pace then shifted again through the middle stages when Lattam (No Risk Al Maury) surged forward to assume control, setting the race up for a late challenge. Approaching the home turn, Nasser Al Shahania made his move from the back of the field, sweeping into contention with a powerful surge to take the lead. His stablemate Caid Du Soleil (Al Mourtajez), carrying the same colours and also representing the Nerbonne yard, produced a matching effort to join him and the pair quickly drew clear of the remainder in the straight. The final 200m developed into a duel between the stable companions, with Caid Du Soleil, partnered by Soufiane Saadi, closing strongly, but Nasser Al Shahania found enough to hold him at bay to the line. Lattam, representing Abdulrahman Fahad Al-Attiyah, under the guidance of Hamad Al-Jehani and with Arnaud de Lepine in the saddle, finished a further four lengths adrift in third, underlining how the first two home had settled the outcome between themselves in the closing stages.

Nah’ash Al Shahania regains winning thread in strong Class 2 contest

Nah’ash Al Shahania regains winning thread in strong Class 2 contest

february 26, 2026

Nah’ash Al Shahania (AF Al Buraq x Insheragh) took the penultimate race on the card, the Purebred Arabian Handicap (85–105) over 1400m (Class 2) for 5yo+ and 10 runners. The 6-year-old bay gelding, carrying the colours of HE Sheikha Reem bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, from the yard of Rudy Nerbonne and partnered by Lukas Delozier, returned to winning ways after three placed finishes this campaign, registering his second success in six starts with a determined performance to score by a length while providing his trainer with a second winner on the evening and his rider with a third in succession. Breaking smartly, Nah’ash Al Shahania settled just behind the early leaders as the front position changed hands rapidly before Sejjel (Al Mourtajez) established a strong and searching gallop shortly after the start. Ilasad (AF AlBahar) and Posuelo Py (AF AlBahar) tracked the pace, with the eventual winner travelling comfortably in their slipstream as the field stretched out through the early and middle stages. Midway through the race, Nah’ash Al Shahania advanced smoothly into second and, approaching the home turn, applied pressure to the leader before striking the front. Once in command he never relinquished control, maintaining a steady advantage despite persistent pressure from Posuelo Py and several others, including Jenkille Hipolyte (Al Mamun Monlau), who produced a late run from off the pace in the closing stages. Nah’ash Al Shahania held on gamely and established a clear margin, leaving his rivals to battle it out for the minor honours. That struggle proved fiercely competitive, with only a short head and a head separating the next three home. Posuelo Py, racing for Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Fadala and handled by Hamad Al-Jehani, secured second under Faleh Bughenaim, a short head ahead of Al Zwair (TM Fred Texas), who stayed on for Al Shaqab Racing, trainer Jean de Mieulle and jockey Pierre Charles Boudot, with Jenkille Hipolyte a head further back in fourth for his owner-trainer Osama Omer Al-Dafea under Arnaud de Lepine.

Mou’nes Al Shahania surges late for hat-trick

february 26, 2026

Mou’nes Al Shahania (Harran ASF x Majnona) captured the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap (60–80) over 2000m (Class 4) for 4yo+ and 11 runners in the fifth race on the card. The 5-year-old bay gelding, owned by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, trained by Rudy Nerbonne and ridden by Lukas Delozier, notched his third consecutive victory from just six career starts, which also include three placed finishes, staying on strongly to score by half a length and suggest there is more to come, another start in the making. Settled in midfield from barrier 2, Mou’nes Al Shahania was content to let others contest the early lead as stablemate Tariqu Al Shahania (Gazwan) pressed forward soon after the start to take control from Al Fareq (Al Mamun Monlau). Tariqu Al Shahania dictated the tempo through the early and middle stages ahead of SK Doctor (Al Mourtajez) and Al Fareq, with the eventual winner travelling comfortably off the pace. Approaching the home turn, Al Qaws (Dahess) advanced from behind mid-division to move into third behind Tariqu Al Shahania and SK Doctor, with Bin La Hoor (La Hoor) following. On straightening up, Al Qaws continued his forward move to press into second behind the long-time leader while the chasing pack began to close in as the race intensified. Inside the final 200m, Mou’nes Al Shahania launched his challenge with a sweeping run from off the pace, rapidly reeling in the leaders and striking the front. Al Fareq rallied strongly in pursuit, but the winner responded generously and held on gamely to the line. Al Fareq, representing Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari and trained by Julian Smart, stayed on under Alberto Sanna to finish second, one and three-quarter lengths clear of Tariqu Al Shahania, who kept on for third in the same colours and for the same trainer as the winner under Faleh Bughenaim.

Kendah Al Shahania (Mister Ginoux x R B Kindle) captured the eighth race on the card, the feature Loyalty Cup, a 1600m Graduation Plate for 4yo Local Purebred Arabians, Class 4, contested by 10 runners. Carrying the colours of HE Sheikha Iman bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the bay filly built on her runner-up debut to open her account in decisive fashion, settling towards the rear before unleashing a sharp burst in the straight to seize control and score by 1¾ lengths. Trained by Rudy Nerbonne and ridden by Marco Casamento, she provided her trainer with a double on the day. Early pace was set by the front-running group while Kendah Al Shahania was content to bide her time in behind, travelling comfortably as the field began to string out approaching the home turn. Turning in, Qiltan (TM Fred Texas) had already moved into a prominent position and struck the front, but once the eventual winner was angled into the clear she quickened decisively, reeling him in with authority and drawing away inside the final stages. Qiltan, representing Wathnan Racing and prepared by Alban de Mieulle, stayed on under Soufiane Saadi to secure second, finishing a full 7 lengths clear of Asfaan Al Shahania (Assy), who ran on late under Lukas Delozier for HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani and trainer Rudy Nerbonne. The sizeable margin between the pair underlined how the winner and runner-up had pulled well clear of the remainder in the straight, effectively settling the race between themselves before the line.

Dabas (AF AlBahar) set a strong tempo from the outset and dominated the lead throughout, opening a sizeable advantage and appearing set for victory as he straightened for home. However, Jalaad Al Shahania began to close relentlessly in the straight, gradually eroding the margin before collaring the long-time leader inside the final 50m to snatch the verdict. Fatack Al Shahania (Burning Sand x Fiha) enhanced his growing reputation in the fifth race on the card, the Gulf Cup for Purebred Arabians bred in the GCC over 1600m, Class 1, contested by 13 runners. The five-year-old grey, carrying the colours of H.E. AJS Kabul (AF AlBahar) raced prominently throughout in second before striking the front on entering the home straight and looking the likely winner while Arman (Amer) travelled in midfield and tracked the pace without urgency. Fatack Al Shahania was held up at the rear through the early and middle stages, conserving energy as the tempo unfolded ahead of him. In the straight, AJS Kabul pressed on and briefly asserted, but Fatack Al Shahania produced a sharp burst in the concluding stages, sweeping past the leaders in the final strides to snatch victory close home. AJS Kabul, owned by Al Jeryan Stud and trained by M.H.K. Tariqu Al Shahania gets off the mark

february 2, 2026

Tariqu Al Shahania (Gazwan x Taraf) opened the nine-race card by shedding his maiden tag in the first race, a Local Purebred Arabian Premium Maiden Plate for 4–7yos over 2000m, Class 6, contested by seven runners. The five-year-old bay gelding, owned by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani and trained by Rudy Nerbonne, improved on his previous runner-up effort to score at the fourth attempt, prevailing by half a length under Lukas Delozier. Breaking smoothly from barrier 1, Tariqu Al Shahania settled neatly in second as Al Masdar (No Risk Al Maury) pressed on to establish a clear lead, stretching the field by more than three lengths through the early and middle stages. While the leader enjoyed a decisive advantage, the remainder of the runners were tightly grouped behind, with Tariqu Al Shahania holding a handy rail position less than a length clear of the chasing pack, headed by Sarooqu Al Shahania (Assy). Approaching the home turn, the early pressure began to tell on Al Masdar, whose advantage started to diminish. Seizing the moment, Tariqu Al Shahania was angled out from the rail and quickly moved up to challenge, drawing alongside and then edging past the long-time leader. At the same time, Windsor (AF AlBahar) accelerated into second to apply fresh pressure as the field straightened. Inside the final 200m, the contest developed into a sustained duel, with Tariqu Al Shahania and Windsor racing stride for stride. Showing resolve, the former found extra in the closing strides to hold his rival at bay and secure victory. Windsor, representing Umm Al Shukhut Farm and trained by Ibrahim Khaled Elahmed, stayed on strongly under Pierre Charles Boudot to take second, a further half a length ahead of Kasser Al Shahania. The latter, a stablemate of the winner and carrying the same colours, finished with a late flourish from the rear under Soufiane Saadi to claim third, closing rapidly on the runner-up as the line approached.

Samsa Al Shahania completes unbeaten double

January 31, 2026

Samsa Al Shahania (Assy x Salma Al Khalediah) maintained his perfect record this season with a resolute victory in the penultimate race on the card, a Purebred Arabian Handicap (80–100) for 5yos and up over 2200m, Class 2, contested by eight runners. The six-year-old bay, racing for Al Shahania Stud and trained by Rudy Nerbonne, followed up his seasonal debut success to remain unbeaten from two starts this season, prevailing by half a length under Lukas Delozier, who completed a double on the day and had also partnered him on his winning return. Breaking well, Samsa Al Shahania and his stablemate Ward (Gazwan) were both prominent early, settling just behind the long-time leader Sidi Star (No Risk Al Maury), who dictated the pace through the early and middle stages. Positions at the front remained largely unchanged, with the field content to let the leader roll along, until Jalaad Al Shahania (Jaafer ASF) began to make ground from the rear, bringing the third stablemate into closer contention. Turning for home, the race took a decisive shape as Samsa Al Shahania was asked to move up and quickly applied pressure to the leader, with Ward following him through in a similar surge. Inside the final 300m, all three Al Shahania Stud runners were locked together at the head of the field, racing in the same colours and asserting clear superiority over the rest. In the closing stages, Samsa Al Shahania found most under pressure, edging ahead to secure victory. Ward, ridden by Pierre Charles Boudot, stayed on strongly to complete the one-two, while Jalaad Al Shahania, finishing with purpose under Soufiane Saadi, claimed third. The trio pulled clear to complete an impressive clean sweep for Al Shahania Stud, Rudy Nerbonne and the French jockeys, underlining the depth of quality within the stable.
