Nah’ash Al Shahania powers home with blistering late run

DECEMBER 04, 2025

Nah’ash Al Shahania (AF Al Buraq x Insheragh) continued his excellent early-season form with a decisive victory in Race 5, the Purebred Arabian Handicap (70–90) for 3YO+ over 1200m (Class 3), contested by 8 runners. The 5YO bay gelding, representing Al Shahania Stud, trained by Rudy Nerbonne and delivered with precision by Lukas Delozier, followed up a promising third on seasonal debut with a sharp win on his second outing, scoring by 1¾ lengths. Breaking from barrier 2, Nah’ash Al Shahania was dropped out early and settled at the rear while Kawaii D’Vialettes (AF AlBahar) set a strong and persistent tempo at the head of affairs. Lanvin De Faust (No Risk Al Maury) and Mesaieed (Majd Al Arab) raced close behind the leader, with the order remaining steady through the early stages. Approaching the home turn, Hamas La Gloire (AF AlBahar), who had sat near the rear, improved stylishly to move into second, becoming the immediate threat to the long-time leader. But once they straightened, Nah’ash Al Shahania began to unwind a devastating sprint from the back of the field. Accelerating with purpose, he swept past rivals one by one, moved into second and shortly after surged past Kawaii D’Vialettes to seize control in the final stages, putting the race firmly to bed. Kawaii D’Vialettes, racing for Mubarak Ali Al-Nuaimi and trained by Ahmed Al Jehani under Alberto Sanna, held on for second, finishing 1⅕ lengths ahead of Hamas La Gloire, who secured third for Yousuf bin Ebrahim bin Yousuf Al-Mahmoud and trainer Hamad Al-Jehani under Pierre Charles Boudot.

Ta’hoos Al Shahania (Harran ASF x Najda) translated consistent promise into a deserved first victory, producing a commanding performance in the day’s opener, the Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for 3–7YOs over 1200m (Class 6), which brought together a field of 13 runners. The 4YO chestnut colt, representing H.H. Breaking alertly from barrier 5, Ta’hoos Al Shahania travelled strongly in third behind the early leader Wahaas (AF AlBahar), with Al Moheet Al Sakab (AF AlBahar) slotting in between the pair. Approaching the home turn, he was angled into second before sweeping to the front, maintaining a fluent rhythm as he lengthened away in the straight. At the 200m marker, a brief duel with Wahaas unfolded well clear of the rest, but Ta’hoos Al Shahania soon asserted his superiority, quickening again inside the final furlong to seal an emphatic win. Wahaas, trained by Ahmed Kobeissi for Abdullah bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Attiya and ridden by Faleh Bughenaim, kept on honestly for second, finishing 5¾ lengths ahead of Al Ta’er (Kalino). The latter, trained by Owaida Salem Al Hajri for owner Mubarak Ali Al-Nuaimi under Abdulla Rashid Al-Hajri, secured third as the best of the rest, himself a further six lengths in front of the fourth-placed runner.

NOVEMBER 20, 2025

Aneed Al Shahania (Azadi x Al Anga) maintained his outstanding strike-rate with a hard-fought victory in the Class 2 Purebred Arabian Conditions for 4YO+ over 2100m. The 5YO grey horse, owned by H.E. Sheikha Reem bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani and trained by Rudy Nerbonne, landed his fifth win from six career starts, with his only defeat being a runner-up effort. Under Lukas Delozier, he prevailed by a length in a tightly contested finish. The four-runner field raced in single file for much of the journey, with Khalil Du Croate (No Risk Al Maury), trained by Julian Smart for Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari and ridden by Alberto Sanna, dictating the pace throughout. He was tracked by Sun Amer (Amer), owned by Khalid Mohammed Al-Harami, trained by Bader Al Balushi and ridden by Marco Casamento, Raed (Amer) and Aneed Al Shahania in that order, with little change in the running positions until the home straight. Once heads turned for home, Sun Amer briefly took over, but Aneed Al Shahania swept past him with a sharp acceleration to strike the front. Khalil Du Croate rallied strongly on the inside and Raed, representing Wathnan Racing for trainer Alban de Mieulle under Soufiane Saadi, also closed fast from behind, setting up a three-way battle to the line. Aneed Al Shahania, however, proved toughest in the final strides, holding off Khalil Du Croate by a length, with Raed a further length back in third. Sun Amer, owned by Khalid Mohammed Al-Harami, trained by Bader Al Balushi and ridden by Marco Casamento, finished fourth, only a short head behind the minor place getters.

The afternoon offered a mix of competitive contests featuring both Arabians and thoroughbreds, with thrilling finishes throughout. The day opened with a Purebred Arabian handicap and built up to a dramatic climax in the feature, with narrow margins and blanket-finishes keeping racegoers on the edge of their seats.

Talg’at Al Shahania (Mared Al Sahra x Kampanule De Ghazal) delivered a dazzling late charge to claim the feature race of the day, the Al Jumail Cup, a Class 4 Local Purebred Arabian Graduation Plate for fillies and mares aged 4YO+ over 1400m. The 6YO mare, owned by H.E. Sheikha Reem bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani, powered home under Lukas Delozier to win by three quarters of a length, handing trainer Rudy Nerbonne a memorable success.

The ten-runner field saw a brisk pace early, with Kanz Al Adeed (AF AlBahar), Marnan (Majd Al Arab), Messera Al Shahania (Burning Sand) and RM Wadha (Mared Al Sahra) all vying for the lead. Kab Ghazal (No Risk Al Maury), owned by Sharq Stud, trained by Mohd Ahmed Mohd Hasan Al-Sulaiti, and ridden by Arnaud De Lepine, and Aziza (Amer), owned by Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari, trained by Zuhair Mohsen, and ridden by Pierre Charles Boudot, joined the challenge approaching the home turn. Meanwhile, Delozier kept Talg’at Al Shahania patiently at the rear. Once in the straight, the leaders fought tooth and nail, but the race turned on its head when Talg’at Al Shahania unleashed a phenomenal burst of speed. Picking off her rivals one by one, she stormed past the field to snatch a thrilling victory. Aziza held on well for second, with Kab Ghazal staying on for third, a length and a half further behind.
