Fatack Al Shahania (Burning Sand x Fiha) enhanced his growing reputation in the fifth race on the card, the Gulf Cup for Purebred Arabians bred in the GCC over 1600m, Class 1, contested by 13 runners. The five-year-old grey, carrying the colours of H.E. Tariqu Al Shahania gets off the mark

february 2, 2026

Tariqu Al Shahania (Gazwan x Taraf) opened the nine-race card by shedding his maiden tag in the first race, a Local Purebred Arabian Premium Maiden Plate for 4–7yos over 2000m, Class 6, contested by seven runners. The five-year-old bay gelding, owned by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani and trained by Rudy Nerbonne, improved on his previous runner-up effort to score at the fourth attempt, prevailing by half a length under Lukas Delozier. Breaking smoothly from barrier 1, Tariqu Al Shahania settled neatly in second as Al Masdar (No Risk Al Maury) pressed on to establish a clear lead, stretching the field by more than three lengths through the early and middle stages. While the leader enjoyed a decisive advantage, the remainder of the runners were tightly grouped behind, with Tariqu Al Shahania holding a handy rail position less than a length clear of the chasing pack, headed by Sarooqu Al Shahania (Assy). Approaching the home turn, the early pressure began to tell on Al Masdar, whose advantage started to diminish. Seizing the moment, Tariqu Al Shahania was angled out from the rail and quickly moved up to challenge, drawing alongside and then edging past the long-time leader. At the same time, Windsor (AF AlBahar) accelerated into second to apply fresh pressure as the field straightened. Inside the final 200m, the contest developed into a sustained duel, with Tariqu Al Shahania and Windsor racing stride for stride. Showing resolve, the former found extra in the closing strides to hold his rival at bay and secure victory. Windsor, representing Umm Al Shukhut Farm and trained by Ibrahim Khaled Elahmed, stayed on strongly under Pierre Charles Boudot to take second, a further half a length ahead of Kasser Al Shahania. The latter, a stablemate of the winner and carrying the same colours, finished with a late flourish from the rear under Soufiane Saadi to claim third, closing rapidly on the runner-up as the line approached.

January 31, 2026

Samsa Al Shahania (Assy x Salma Al Khalediah) maintained his perfect record this season with a resolute victory in the penultimate race on the card, a Purebred Arabian Handicap (80–100) for 5yos and up over 2200m, Class 2, contested by eight runners. The six-year-old bay, racing for Al Shahania Stud and trained by Rudy Nerbonne, followed up his seasonal debut success to remain unbeaten from two starts this season, prevailing by half a length under Lukas Delozier, who completed a double on the day and had also partnered him on his winning return. Breaking well, Samsa Al Shahania and his stablemate Ward (Gazwan) were both prominent early, settling just behind the long-time leader Sidi Star (No Risk Al Maury), who dictated the pace through the early and middle stages. Positions at the front remained largely unchanged, with the field content to let the leader roll along, until Jalaad Al Shahania (Jaafer ASF) began to make ground from the rear, bringing the third stablemate into closer contention. Turning for home, the race took a decisive shape as Samsa Al Shahania was asked to move up and quickly applied pressure to the leader, with Ward following him through in a similar surge. Inside the final 300m, all three Al Shahania Stud runners were locked together at the head of the field, racing in the same colours and asserting clear superiority over the rest. In the closing stages, Samsa Al Shahania found most under pressure, edging ahead to secure victory. Ward, ridden by Pierre Charles Boudot, stayed on strongly to complete the one-two, while Jalaad Al Shahania, finishing with purpose under Soufiane Saadi, claimed third. The trio pulled clear to complete an impressive clean sweep for Al Shahania Stud, Rudy Nerbonne and the French jockeys, underlining the depth of quality within the stable.

The five-year-old grey, racing for Al Shahania Stud and trained by Rudy Nerbonne, put a series of recent efforts behind him to get off the mark at the seventh attempt and on his third start in Qatar, prevailing by a neck under Lukas Delozier, who completed a quick-fire double and a treble on the day. Settling into a comfortable rhythm early, Caid Du Soleil raced in fifth through the early and middle stages, tracking a leading group headed by Al Natibis Up (Al Mamun Monlau), who set the tempo ahead of Munahis (AF AlBahar), Bin Narain (Al Mourtajez) and Der’h Al Shahania (Gazwan). The order remained largely unchanged as the field made its way toward the home turn, with Al Natibis Up appearing firmly in control. Once straightened, the complexion of the race shifted. Munahis began to apply strong pressure to the leader, ranging up with intent while Caid Du Soleil was produced with a perfectly timed challenge, unleashing a telling late surge from just off the pace. DECEMBER 27, 2025

Mubkhar Al Shahania (Gazwan x Kampanule De Ghazal) delivered a commanding front-running performance to land Race 8, the day’s feature Ras Mlaiji Cup, a Local Purebred Arabian Handicap (65–85) for 3YO+ over 2000m, Class 4, contested by five runners. The 4-year-old grey colt, carrying the colours of H.E. Breaking alertly, Mubkhar Al Shahania moved to the front shortly after the start, taking over from Chakib (Kalino). Once in control, he dictated terms with confidence, setting a steady yet decisive tempo and travelling comfortably at the head of affairs. Al Mutaghatris (No Risk Al Maury) tracked him throughout with the remainder of the field racing in close order behind. Approaching the home turn, Al Mutaghatris began to close and briefly reduced the margin, posing the first serious question to the leader. Mubkhar Al Shahania; however, had more to give. AJS Najma (AF AlBahar), racing for Al Jeryan Stud, prepared by M.H.K Al Attiyah and partnered by Szczepan Mazur, recovered from being relegated to last during the early stages and produced a strong late surge to secure second.
