Ray'q impresses in Local Purebred Arabian Handicap

Ray'q showed his class with a solid performance to win the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap (80-100) for 4YO+ over 2100m. The 5YO horse (Azadi x Zahwah), owned by H.E. Sheikha Reem bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani and trained by Rudy Nerbonne, was ridden confidently by Lukas Delozier. Despite the small field, Ray'q displayed his strength in the latter stages, edging ahead to secure a 2¼-length victory. This win marked a well-deserved return to form after a couple of solid performances. Suka'ar (Burning Sand) finished in second place, while Tajamhor (General) rounded off the placings in third, 1½ lengths behind the runner-up.

Gaeeda Al Shahania (Mared Al Sahra x Salma Al Khalediah) kicked off the day’s action with a strong performance to claim the Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate 3-6YO Fillies and Mares over 1400m. Owned by Al Shahania Stud, the 3YO filly, trained by Rudy Nerbonne and ridden by Alberto Sanna, showed determination to secure her maiden victory by a length. The early stages of the race saw a competitive pace set, with several runners vying for position. In the final furlong, Gaeeda Al Shahania surged forward to take the lead, holding off a late challenge from Jaazmina Du Soleil(Gazwan), who finished second, only a neck ahead of Shakeemah Gold (Al Mamun Monlau) in third.

Nah'aab Al Shahania (Burning Sand x Al Nefor), bred and owned by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, claimed victory in the 3YO Local Purebred Arabian Derby over 1400m. Trained by Rudy Nerbonne and ridden by Lukas Delozier, the colt demonstrated great tenacity, surging ahead in the home straight to secure a short-head victory over Jahanara (Al Mamun Monlau), owned by Wathnan Racing and trained by Alban de Mieulle. Windsor (AF AlBahar), owned by Umm Al Shukhut Farm, completed the placings, finishing third under jockey Fayos Martin Borja, 2¼ lengths behind the runner-up. Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, QREC Racing Manager, crowned the winners.

Aneed Al Shahania (Azadi x Al Anga) delivered another impressive performance to extend his unbeaten streak in the Qatar National Derby for 4YO Local Purebred Arabians over 2100m. Owned by H.E. Sheikha Reem bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, trained by Rudy Nerbonne, and ridden by Lukas Delozier, the grey colt displayed his class by overtaking the long-time leader at the 200m mark and pulling away to secure a decisive 3¼-length victory. Arman(Amer), representing Wathnan Racing and trained by Alban de Mieulle, finished in second under James Doyle. A further five lengths behind in third was AJS Kabul (AF AlBahar), owned by Al Jeryan Stud, trained by M.H.K. Al Attiyah, and ridden by Szczepan Mazur. Horse owner and trainer Osama Omer E Al-Dafea crowned the winners.

The Lekhraib Cup Day at Al Uqda Racecourse on 7th December featured an exciting eight-race card, with Haman winning the feature 2200m Handicap. Trained by Rudy Nerbonne, Haman triumphed in a thrilling finish, securing 1st place, while his stablemates Yunus, Fayq Al Shahania, and Hareeb took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, respectively, completing a remarkable 1-2-3-4 finish for the trainer.
